Highlights

On our way to Krka waterfalls from Split we will make two stops. First is at the city of Primošten, a beautiful little Dalmatian city surrounded by the crystal clear water and amazing beaches. Next one is the city of Šibenik with its magnificent UNESCO-protected St. Jacob’s Cathedral, and beautiful old city with many stone palaces which make it an amazing place for sightseeing on our Krka waterfalls tour from Split & Trogir.

Krka National Park has exceptionally rich and varied flora and fauna. A total of 860 species and subspecies of the plants have been identified within the park, including several endemic species. There are 18 species of fish but 222 species of birds make this park one of the ornithologically most valuable regions of Europe.     MEETUP & DEPARTURE

    08:30h - 09:30h
    Our minibus will wait for you on our meeting point, for those traveling to Krka waterfalls from Split meet up and departure is at 8:30 (am) and for guest traveling from Trogir is 9:30. As soon as we all gather up, we will depart for our first stop at the city of Primošten. There is approximately an hour drive from Split to Primošten or 35 minutes from Trogir to Primošten.

    CITY OF PRIMOŠTEN

    10:00h - 11:00h
    At first stop on our Krka waterfalls tour from Split & Trogir, you will get a chance to walk around the city and experience the atmosphere of a small traditional Dalmatian city. You can also visit some of the amazing beaches in Primošten. After sightseeing Primošten we have a 30 min ride to Šibenik.

    CITY OF ŠIBENIK

    11:30h - 13:00h
    Šibenik is definitely a perfect place for a walk, sightseeing and taking beautiful pictures. There is ancient St. Michael’s Fortress and UNESCO-protected St. Jacob’s Cathedral which is the most important architectural monument of the renaissance in Croatia. You can also choose to have a snack or lunch in Šibenik before going to the National park. From Šibenik to the Krka National Park we have approximately 15-20 min ride.

    KRKA NATIONAL PARK

    13:25h - 16:30h
    The final destination on our tour to Krka waterfalls from Split - National park Krka. Upon arrival, you will receive your admission ticket to the National Park and tour guide will take you to explore the Park’s wonders. After a walk with the guide, you will have your free time during which you can have a nice lunch in one of the park’s restaurants and if you like you can take a swim under the Skradinski buk waterfalls and make some amazing pictures.

    RETURN TO TROGIR / SPLIT

    16:30h - 17:30h
    After we all check in at our meeting point with our guide, we will depart for Trogir / Split. In the minibus, we will have enough time to discuss our experiences of Krka national park.

Know before you go

Swimming in Krka National Park

If you are interested in booking Krka tour from Split, you should know that visitors are not permitted to swim outside of clearly marked areas. During some parts of the year water temperatures are low so the best time recommended for swimming in a national park would be in July and August.

Krka National Park rules

There are rules set by National Park and we advise you to respect them. You are not allowed to catch fish by any means or to hunt/catch/frighten/disturb any animal species. Furthermore, it is forbidden to pick or damage indigenous plants or beak/damage travertine. Taking pictures for commercial purposes is also not allowed without approval. You can’t camp or light fires outside clearly marked areas, disposing of waste or pollution of any kind is highly forbidden. Walking dogs without a leash, flying drones or other unmanned aerial equipment is also forbidden within Krka National Park.

Long walk through the National Park

Since there is a lot of walking and physical activity, this tour is not recommended for people with mobility issues.

There is an island in the Krka National Park

On the Krka river, within National Park there is an island Visovac with monastery founded by Augustinian monks in the 15th century (1445). The island is one of the most important natural and cultural values of Croatia. It is a significant archaeological ground, it has a great library with many valuable books and has a big collection of historical church linens and dishes. You can visit the island and the monastery with many different boat excursions operated by the National Park but it has an additional cost.

Second oldest hydroelectric plant in the world

In the very center of the National Park Krka, in 1895, a hydroelectric plant was built. Just two days after Tesla’s hydroelectric plant on Niagara Falls, it became operational which makes it the second oldest hydroelectric plant in the world! Thanks to this plant Šibenik had electrical lighting years before many European capitals. Krka hydroelectric plant is protected as a monument of industrial architecture and holds historical significance.
